Valentine’s Day Crochet! January 4, 2011

Still working through my stash, which has admittedly grown some. Just a little…

This year, I will be making slippers for Valentine’s Day. I’d also like to get a few more pairs worked up for guests. That way, I won’t feel so bad when we have them removing their shoes at the door. It also gives me the oppertunity to try several patterns just for the fun of it.

For DD I found this pair of slippers with a cuff. I’m going to make hers in the black, and use the last of the varigated yarn that I made the tam and shrug with, for the cuff. When I make S.S’s I will add the hearts into the cuff. I’m thinking a yellow cuff with purple hearts – her favorite colors.

For the guys, I found this pattern for Moccasin style slippers. I will post pictures as I complete them, and let you know how the patterns work up.

Getting back on track… November 15, 2009

Well, the holidays are getting closer and closer every day…I’ve been working on getting some things made for gifts – while still using up my stash of yarn. I do however have a confession to make. I cheated a little on my vow not to purchase any other yarns. I purchased the required thread (which technically is not yarn – that’s why we call it thread…I’m grasping here, I know.) for the Ice Princess necklace I want to make for my sister. I do have plain wite thread – and while that would have worked, I want the one I’m making my sister to have that bit of sparkle.

I’m still working through my stash here though – I’ve been making slippers for the guys in my family from Bev’s Country Cottage. I’ve had to make some adjustments, but the pattern is so simple it’s been no problem.

I also made one of the head bands I wrote about in my “Kickin’ Stash” post. The first one I gave to my friend Shelly – now she wants one in every color. I’ll do my best with that, and make them for her for Christmas 🙂

I have one more slipper to make then I will have 3 pairs completed and 4 to go. I’m working on the necklace after this last pair though, it’s time for a change of pace.
